Help feed the community

Hope participates in the Serving Our Savior Food Bank SOS) located at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Our congregation joins with the congregations of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Shepherd in the Hills
Episcopal Church, House of Power, House of Peace, Unity of Citrus County, House of Power, First Church of God
and Joy and Praise Fellowship Assembly of God in this important Citrus County ministry to the poor and hungry. Congregation members collect food weekly and participate in food distribution at the food bank each Thursday morning. Unemployment and the financial outlook for many people is still a very big factor in our community. SOS is an outpost for many of our citizens here in Citrus County. During the last year SOS gave 337,421 pounds of food to 5940 families with 17,121 family members. Our Church along with 6 other churches is involved in the pantry which serves many families on food stamps and provides not only food, but personal items – toilet paper, deodorant, shampoo, toothpaste and brushes, which cannot be purchased with food stamps.

Hope Help

. The congregation of Hope particpates in many ministries to our community. We invite you to join us in helping community members.. Remember Christ's words in Matthew 25:34-40. "34 Then the King will say to those at his right hand, ‘Come, O blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world; 35 for I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, 36 I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.’ 37 Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see thee hungry and feed thee, or thirsty and give thee drink? 38 And when did we see thee a stranger and welcome thee, or naked and clothe thee? 39 And when did we see thee sick or in prison and visit thee?’ 40 And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brethren, you did it to me.’ "
