How do we say thanks? - by Pastor Dave (Sunday 8 and 10 am)

Jesus is risen. He is risen indeed. He shows us that God's plan has worked for us and we can be secure in the understanding that we are the forgiven children of God. How do we respond and say thanks. You are witnesses of these things says Jesus. We go and we share.

The Greatest Gift - by Deacon John(Saturday 4:30 PM)

The greatest gift we could ever, ever, ever have from anybody or anything is god rising from the dead and our sins are forgive. Not only does he forgive, but God tels us I forget. We can't forget what God has done for me and thank God for that.

Peace, Forgiveness and God's Holy Spirit - by Pastor Lynn Bechdolt (Sunday 10 am)

We rely on God's spirit to give us peace, forgiveness and God's Holy Spirit. And we trust where that spirit leads us. And when we do, we change the world. We change it until it begins to look something like the life we could live forever.

A different take on Thomas - by Deacon Diane (Saturday 4:30 pm and Sunday 8 am)

Thomas did not doubt the Lord, he doubted the words of his friends. Thomas found it highly unlikely that the Lord was risen because he was surrounded by a group of witnesses whom he simply did not find credible. Thomas could not read the presence of the Lord in the faces of his friends. What would he read on our faces?

This is Good Friday - by Pastor Dave (Good Friday 7 pm)

In spite of the cruelty and brokenness and the messed up way the humankind treats one another, Christ came to bring redemption. Christ came, and obedient to God's will, died for us on the cross. That is why we call this Friday "Good."

It's not just a ritual - by Pastor Dave (Maundy Thursday 7 pm)

When we hear the words, "Do this in remembrance of me," may it bind us together. May it instill in us the celebration of our liberation from sin and death. And may we experience as the family of God, the very presence of Christ, for that is what he intended when he gave us this meal.

Who knows when - by Pastor Dave (Sunday 8 am)

God calls us, his special people, who know the power of the cross, who know the outcome of the cross, who know the glory of the cross, to carry our crosses and to be open for the moment; who know s when; when God will call upon us to carry our cross.

God writes the divine love in our hearts - by Pastor Dave (Mid-week Lenten Wednesday)

We have a new life and a new relationship with God because of Jesus. By his spirit he has given us power that we can be faithful disciples, we can live our lives with a new sense of righteousness; not because we got it all together, but because God put it all together for us. God writes the divine love in our hearts.

In giving we receive our glory - by Pastor Dave (Sunday 8 & 10 am)

It is in serving that we find joy. When we understand that Jesus calls us to be his servants we discover glory is when we show righteousness, and justice and goodness to others. Our glory as a church is when we understand that the one who came to save us gave his life and his glory was in serving and loving and bringing compassion. Our glory as a people of God is to do the same.

A path to follow - by Deacon Diane (Saturday 4:30 PM)

We have a path to follow. That path is the death of Jesus. Jesus' death however is of no benefit to us if we are not willing to submit to death, physically, emotionally and spiritually. Ultimately, death in whatever it comes to us means that we entrust all that we are and all that we have to God. We let ourselves be lifted up; lifted up in Christ's crucifixion, lifted up in his resurrection, lifted up in his ascension into heaven. He is drawing all people to himself, that where he is, we too may be.

All we have to do - by Pastor Dave (Mid-week Lenten Wednesday)

And all we have to do is look upon Him, believe in Him, and we will have forgiveness, and grace and life eternal .

The good news - by Pastor Dave (Sunday 8 & 10 am)

My imperfections are covered by a gracious savior who came in order that I may not be condemned, but in order that I might have life, that we might have life and have it more fully in God. That's the good news!

For God so loved - by Deacon John(Saturday 4:30 PM)

We can return to God because he loves us, cares for us and he hears us. Let's pary more and then let's listen more and we will come to the light of Jesus Christ who will be there before us and he tells us who believes in him will have eternal life.

Witness for God - by Pastor Dave (Mid-week Lenten Wednesday)

It is helpful along the way to know how we can witness for God. We who are rescued from our slavery and bondage, we who are lifted up from our indignity and brokenness, we who have been set free, we who are touched and claimed by Christ, have some new ways to be as we forge a new community that is a light to our community.

Centered in Christ in all we do - by Pastor Dave (Sunday 8 & 10 am)

That is where our focal point is - on the one who loved us, who died for us, who rose again, so that we may have uninhibited relationship with God who loves us dearly.

Jesus cleaning the temple - by Deacon Diane (Saturday 4:30 PM)

Jesus was trying to show that life was not about making money; not that business is bad, but the temple was supposed to be set aside for godly not earthly endeavors. It was a place for worship, not entrepreneurship. It was a place for communion, not commerce. It was a place for reverence, not retail. It was a place to seek forgiveness, not fortune; peace, not profit.

God of surprises - by Pastor Dave (Mid-week Lenten Wednesday)

We don't know what He may have in store. Certainly He is a god of surprises, just ask Sarah and Abraham. They believed and they trusted and they knew that God had made a special relationship, a covenant to make them His own. And so he does with us.

It is only by following Him - by Pastor Dave (Sunday 8 & 10 am)

We are those who claim discipleship. We follow Jesus. I salute you because you are here and have said that. I know the way is hard, but be encouraged because the truth is that it is only by following Him that we really know the way back to God. It is only by following Him that we follow the way, the truth and the light.

God just wants to hear from you - by Deacon Diane (Saturday 4:30 PM)

The most important thing to remember is that God just wants to hear from you. No matter if your prayer is long or short, fancy or simple, silly or serious, from inside of church, or from under your bed, God just wants to hear from you.

Get honest about all things - by Pastor Dave (Ash Wednesday)

And so this Lent we need to get focused and refocused, to get darn honest about things and know that it is not about us. It sure isn't about how well we do things. It is about getting closer to the lord who loved us enough to die for us.

What this glory is all about - by Pastor Dave (Sunday 8 & 10 am)

God came and joined with us and loved us even through our rejection, even through our cruelty; to make us his own and to redeem us with an unusual kind of glory and certainly a wonderful kind of love. Now it up to us in the midst of the pain and suffering and brokenness all around us to hang on to that glory and let it motivate us to truly be what Jesus wants us to be - brothers and sisters in him, children of the heavenly Father.

Carry the cross of the crucified Christ - by Deacon John(Saturday 4:30 PM)

As Christians we did not come to be served - we come to serve and that is what we are to do. We are to serve others and then we will carry the cross of the crucified Christ.

Where the focus needs to be - by Pastor Dave (Sunday 8 & 10 am)

The focus needs to be on spreading God's love and making God's will be known. This helps folks know what is really important and who really is in charge. he gives us strength to do this calling so we can approach the throne of grace receiving his strength mercy and love and share it with others.

Get right with the Lord - by Deacon Diane (Saturday 4:30 PM)

. If we listen for the words of the Lord in health or in sickness or in social isolation, he still delivers the same message. When we stand before God as his beloved, we experience healing. The healing may be at different levels and at different times, but we do experience a sense of wholeness. When we get right with the Lord, we get right with others and ourselves.

He cares about each one of us - by Pastor Dave (Sunday 8 & 10 am)

We need to remember that when we get in despair about the news and what's going on around us that Jesus indeed came and showed us a different kind of authority, an authority that endorsed all people, that reached out with fairness and equity, that assured us of God's victory over sin and death and evil, that cares about each one of us regardless of what our walk is.

Go to Jesus - by Deacon John(Saturday 4:30 PM)

Through our hardships and through those demons that may be in us that need to be worked out, all we need to do is go to Jesus because we know that he rebukes and they listen. We need to pray to Jesus for all our troubles because Jesus is the only one that can reburke the evil spirits in our lives.

My hope and prayer for you is that you respond to the great commission to "Go therefor and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit" This is God's desire for you. My hope is that you experience the joy, the privilege and the blessings that can only come from being an invitational evangelist..

Not just a story about gifts given - by Pastor Dave (Sunday 8 & 10 am)

The story of the magi is about trusting that we can be part of God's plan just as Mary and Joseph; just as Merriam and others were a part of God's plan; just as the Magi; not because of their remarkable riches, but because of their trust in God and following their hearts could be part of making sure that God's purpose happens.

January 6, 2018

Lightbulb Time - by Deacon Diane (Saturday 4:30 PM)

But there are times of grace when we break through from the weight of the world and all its distractions to see salvation through Christ and our redemption from sin. We truly see the light, rather than hiding from it or observing it from oblique angles. Those are the times when we most become like the magi at the feet of Christ, experiencing not just our own epiphanies but His Epiphany.

What are we really celebrating? - by Deacon John (Saturday 4:30 PM; Sunday 8 and 10))

We discover that God walks with us through the trials and tribulations of our lives. He does not forsake us and sometimes in these situations we see what God is really like in our lives when our prayers are answered like he said he would. He comes among us, God Himself, in the form of a baby who will die on a cross, but rise again for our salvation.

You have to go through John to get to Christmas - by Pastor Dave (Sunday 8 & 10 am)

You don't get reminded by a prophet unless there's a way to turn it all around. The Good News says Mark is that there is a God who loves us, forgives us, who gives us the opportunity through Jesus' birth to begin fresh and receive anew.

Royal Highway - by Deacon Diane (Saturday 4:30 PM)

Highways are remarkable undertakings. Land must be cleared, stumbling blocks and obstacles removed. Today we marvel at how they can cut highways through mountains, over deep valleys and chasms. It takes complex calculations and heavy equipment and explosives etc. to complete a highway. Here the preparing is simpler. "Repent" turn one's face to God. Redirect you actions, behaviors, attitudes to reflect God's ways.

December 3, 2017

Ready? - by Pastor Dave (Sunday 8 & 10 am)

How do we get ready for Christmas? By living each day in Christ. How do we get ready for the second coming? By living each day in Christ, striving to be His disciples, learning to love as we have been loved and walking in His light.
